Created by Dave Kot, his comic book “Face Value” is the first comic book with a real superhero – someone with autism. Dave, who is on the autism spectrum wants to give back to the autism community by raising awareness about people living on the autism spectrum in hopes that awareness could turn into acceptance. “Face Value” shows many different aspects of autism including the different emotions and language to match the facial expression of those presented in the comic book.

Dave says that he's most proud of the part where Michael is shown going to his first day of school because the actual page is upside down. Some may think it's a printing mistake, but Dave says by making the page upside down it shows how people often change perspectives when looking at a person with autism. By changing their perspective, people can begin to change awareness into acceptance.
